Chapter1
How Japanese hear the English sounds? 'R'='L' and 'B'='V'?

1. Romaji and General Idea of Japanese Language

I was thinking where to start, and decided to do some research on the internet. (By the way, I have the diploma of the Internet Technology!)

I found many interesting sites and I realised that I must tell you about Japanese "Romaji" first.

How many of you know about "Romaji"? I don't think I can explain why Japanese have so many problems with listening and speaking English without telling you about "Romaji".

Hari Srinivas wrote about his "Romaji" experience in Japan in his "The Jinglish Tickle". And it is a very good story to start with.
http://www.gdrc.org/hari/wonj/episode-2.html

If you read the above story, you know what the Romaji like and how it makes both Japanese English speakers and "Engrish(Japanese English)" listeners confused.

To understand Japanese English and Japanised English words, it's good to learn about the Japanese Language. I found a a very well written page about Japanese Language, where you can find all you need to get the general idea of the Japanese Language.

Tim's Takamatsu "A Bit of the Language"
http://www.timwerx.net/language/bitlang/index.htm

Now you know what "Romaji" means and a bit of the Japanese Language, I think it's a time to talk about "Katakana", which used for "Loan Words" from other languages.

Before going to next page...
While I was doing research on this subject, I couldn't ignore 'A' book title, so I must tell you about it. I haven't read it yet and I appreciate reviews/comments from any of you, who have read this book.
